Heartwork was an online creative writing course for fifteen returning participants who were all adult survivors of CSA. We ran evening sessions, once a month, on Zoom. The poems have been published online in our Heartwork Anthology 2021, read it here.

Heartwork was open to  adult survivors of CSA who are women or non-binary. We are open to all cis and trans women, as well as to those for whom ‘woman’ makes up part of their gender identity. Heartworks was also open to all non-binary and genderqueer people of all identities.

All of our workshops are queer and trans friendly spaces and any harassment based on gender identity and/or sexuality will not be tolerated. We hope to be able to provide workshops for men in the near future.

A safe explorative space for all – we had a qualified psychotherapist present during and after each session to ground people if needed. Each participant was also given the opportunity to book a free 45-minute session with our psychotherapist to discuss their work and experience of the course.

Participants’ work will be published in an online anthology at the end of the course, with the choice to do this anonymously.

Heartwork’s six sessions were themed around:

From Source to Sea (nature writing and trauma),
Writing Happiness,
Storytelling with Art(e)facts,
Best Dressed (clothes, identity, fashion),
and Transformations.

Three sessions were run by our core facilitators and the other three were created and facilitated by wonderful guest tutors who also identify as survivors of CSA.
